CNA classes are offered year round in Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Osseo, Bloomer, and Rice Lake.

COVID-19 Vaccine: The clinical portion of this class is held at skilled nursing centers/nursing homes. Due to the CMS mandate, the COVID-19 vaccine - or an approved medical or religious exemption with accommodation - is required for students enrolled in the class. Even if you plan to work at an assisted living residence or other non-mandated vaccine setting after the class, the above still applies as a student of the class.

CNA Course Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Class size is limited to sixteen students.
  • Attendance is mandatory for all 75 hours of class.
  • Scrubs of any color and clean, comfortable healthcare-appropriate footwear (no Crocs or open-toed shoes) are required for all classes.
  • Must have a watch with a second hand on it.
  • Administration reserves the right to remove any student due to misconduct of any kind.

Testing

As a student of our course, you will be able to test in the familiar surroundings of our care center, rather than an unfamiliar regional testing site. We also offer practice sessions prior to the test to help ensure you understand the correct performance of skills and to help relieve any test-related anxiety you may be experiencing. After successfully completing the course, you will be eligible to take the state exam. This test includes a written and a skills portion. Once you pass both tests, your name will be entered on the state CNA registry.

Class Fee

If you have been accepted into our Train-to-Work program (or you are receiving financial assistance from another entity), this class fee section may not apply to you. Dove Healthcare offers two fee structures based on your purpose for taking the CNA class. Once your application is received and processed, you will be contacted regarding fee payment options (credit card, check, or cash). The class fee must be paid in full before your spot in the class is guaranteed. Once the full payment is received, you will receive an email confirming your place in the class.

Option 1: Class Only - $475
If you are only taking the class as a pre-requisite for school/college and you do NOT intend to work as a CNA after the class is over, you may opt for our “class only” fee of $475. This fee covers the cost of class materials and textbooks; it does not cover the State exam fee of $125.

Option 2: Class and State Exam - $575
If you intend to work as a CNA after completing the class, you will need to take the State exam. In this case, students can take advantage of our combined class and testing fee of $575 (a savings of $25). This fee covers the cost of class materials, textbooks, and the State exam. In addition, our educators will help you get signed up for a testing date. Please note: If you are not successful on your first attempt and need to retake any portion of the State exam, you will be responsible for any additional testing fee(s).

Refunds
In the event you are not able to participate in the class, you may request a refund in writing up to 10 days prior to the first day of class. No refunds will be given after the class begins. Credit card refunds will be assessed a 3% transaction fee.

Train-to-Work Program Participants commit to:

  • Signing the Train-to-Work Program Agreement prior to the start of class
  • Applying for employment as a CNA at any Dove Healthcare location
  • Working agreed upon schedule based on signed agreement
  • Repaying Dove Healthcare the class fee and state exam fee if unable to successfully complete the class/exam or fulfill employment agreement

Class Fee Reimbursement

After completion of the CNA class, if you become an employee of any Dove Healthcare skilled nursing facility, you are eligible for 100% reimbursement of the class fee.

  • You must pass the competency exam and be listed on the State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry before the reimbursement request can be submitted.
  • After submission of the reimbursement request, we will reimburse a portion of the class fee.
  • If you successfully complete one year of employment with Dove Healthcare, the remaining cost of the class that has not been refunded, will be reimbursed up to the full cost of $475.
  • If you do not become a Dove Healthcare employee, you may still seek reimbursement through another state approved facility. Reimbursement amounts will vary at other facilities.

Lapsed or Expired CNA License

If you want to start working as a CNA again, but your CNA license has lapsed/expired, you will need to contact the agency Headmaster at 877-201-0758. Headmaster will navigate you through the steps on their website to prepare you for retesting. In most cases, retaking the nurse aide training program is not necessary.
